Our Social Connection CAN emerged out of the growing recognition that our immigrant communities were particularly vulnerable in the current political climate, and needed additional support and connection to resources. In particular, there are few options for legal support for immigrant residents across the Coachella Valley, and residents face information gaps and misinformation that serves to dissuade our most vulnerable immigrant families from using the services for which they are eligible.
In this CAN, we are currently working to develop a population-level indicator to track the progress of our interventions. We are conducting extensive qualitative research to understand the landscape of opportunity in need across the Coachella Valley, in order to identify the key gaps in support that are impacting families. We are also working to develop “Know Your Eligibility” strategies to bridge information gaps and dispel misinformation. We have partnered with the USC Gould School of Law to bring legal support services for Coachella Valley immigrants, to help ensure that they have better information and the support they need to thrive.
